BALDWIN LAKE RESTORATION PROJECT at THE LOS ANGELES ARBORETUM - BY STUDIO-MLA
A major restoration project in and around Baldwin Lake and Tule pond, at the LA Arboretum. In collaboration with Los Angeles department of Public Works and Bureau of Engineering, we reimagined the planted edges of the lake - and designing new gardens and access paths that compliment and blend into the existing Arboretum site. Additionally, a reconstructed lake edge was designed to reference the original river stone walls build by Elias Baldwin, the historic original owner and caretaker of the site.

WILMINGTON MIDDLE SCHOOL - BY STUDIO-MLA & TREEPEOPLE
The greening project at Wilmington Middle School transforms an enormous ‘blank canvas” of underutilized, paved space into four separate outdoor learning environments, surrounded by gardens and shaded seating. A living schoolyard, the new landscape treats onsite storm water runoff with an engineered bioswale. Engagement and feedback from the students and school community was implemented early on in the concept phase. The design takes cues from the themes of hydrology, and coastal ecosystems of the South Bay.

UCLA MILDRED MATHIAS BOTANICAL GARDEN - HILGARD ENTRANCE GARDEN & GATE - BY STUDIO-MLA
Site improvements and planting design for the illustrious Mildred Mathias Botanical Garden at UCLA. Work included creation of a new entrance garden, featuring drought tolerant plants in shades of blues and yellows to reference the UCLA school colors. A brand new entrance gate was designed and custom fabricated. Lastly, an incidental drainage channel created over years of runoff erosion through the garden was reinforced with rock material, allowing it to continue draining without further erosion and adding to the aesthetics of the site.
